Use of Pandemrix among young people and elderly appears to be unauthorised in EU
This is a quote from an article published at The Flu Case February 9 2010:
'EU and national regulators have allowed the Pandemrix swine flu vaccine to be given to young people and elderly even though the vaccine is not authorised for use in these age groups, according to the EU medicines regulator documents.
According to documents by the European Medicines Agency, Pandemrix was granted marketing authorisation in the EU in May 2008 with use being restricted to people between 18 and 60 years of age.
In spite of this restriction, Pandemrix has been given to children under 18 and the elderly in the course of the mass swine flu vaccine campaign launched this autumn after WHO declared a pandemic emergency.
In fact, children under 18 have been made priority groups for vaccination with Pandemrix by governments and WHO even though the use of Pandemrix in this group appears to be illegal.'
