H1N1: Who Do You Trust?
Link: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,563161,00.html
This is a quote from an article published at Foxnews October 9th, 2009:
'Have you decided what you're going to do about the swine flu vaccine yet? Have you heard anybody yet talk about it that you trust? Will you take your chances with the swine flu or the vaccine? Will you take the vaccine and give it to your children? How much do you trust your government?'
And later:
'Unfortunately, there is that credibility issue in Washington, with science — with the science that comes from the world organizations like the WHO, or really it's the U.N. that bothers me so much. We have been lied to before. We have been lied to by the media. We have been lied to by both sides of the aisle, and politicians — with politician and doctors are wrong. I'm not alone in asking these questions.'
And:
'Dr. Kent Holtorf is an expert in infectious diseases. He warns there is a risk with this multiple vaccine approach of a side effect very similar to the Gulf War syndrome.'

US officials combat public's wariness of swine flu vaccine

This is a quote from an article published at The Christian Science Monitor October 9th, 2009:
'With polls showing that Americans are concerned about the safety of the swine flu vaccine, government health officials are being dispatched across the US to make the case for vaccination.'
And:
'The vaccine is opposed, moreover, by naturopaths and even a well-known epidemiologist, Tom Jefferson, who has deemed H1N1 "not a major threat."'
And:
'These days, skeptics have much bigger stages, namely cable TV and the Internet, on which to air their doubts. Fox News' Glenn Beck has devoted hours this week to asking whether people should get the vaccine, and why the World Health Organization, "Big Pharma," and the government are hyping a pandemic that seems less virulent than officials had predicted.'

No Flu Shots for My Kids

This is a quote from an article at MidWestHeartConnection published October 9th, 2009:
'Park, a registered dietitian from Manassas Park, Va., is fighting the flu on her own terms -- by making sure that her children eat well, wash their hands frequently, get plenty of sleep and take their "gummies," a multivitamin and a supplement containing vitamin C, zinc and echinacea. Although public health officials recommend seasonal flu vaccines even for healthy kids, Park doesn't see how her clan, aged 3 to 11, would benefit. "I'm not convinced that getting it is going to keep you from getting the flu," the 35-year-old explained, noting flu shots don't protect against every possible strain of influenza. She's particularly leery of the H1N1 vaccine, which manufacturers began shipping this week. "I just think that's being totally rushed," she said. '
And:
'Some of the main reasons cited included the notion that kids have strong immune systems, so getting the flu would simply bolster them against that strain in the future. Others believed that uptake of the vaccine was in the pharmaceutical manufacturers' -- but not their children's -- best interest. And other parents reasoned that they had never had, or felt they needed, the flu shot, so why should their kids get it?'
